History
 

Founded at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, on April 28, 1867, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity was the first national secret college society of women and was modeled after Greek-letter men’s fraternities. Originally called I.C. Sorosis, Pi Beta Phi was founded by the twelve pioneering women:
