Philanthropies

The San Francisco Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi supports international philanthropies including Arrowmont, Holt House, Pi Beta Phi Foundation, & Pi Beta Phi Undergraduate scholarships.

In addition, the Club supports ROCK San Francisco (Real Options for City Kids), a local organization dedicated to nurturing the healthy development of children by listening attentively to their needs and by providing opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access. ROCK aims to promote the positive development and long-term success of the youth that it serves through a combination of in-school and after school learning enrichment, sports and fitness, leadership training, outdoor adventure, and summer camp opportunities. ROCK's programs are designed to serve girls and boys, ages 6-14, who live in or attend school in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley.

Saturday October 16th, 2004 was a huge success as the San Francisco Pi Phi Alumnae Club headed to Visitation Valley to play basketball with 40 plus kids under the age of 10. We taught them some skills on the court, had arts and crafts time, as well as handed out awards for the kids and volunteers that went above and beyond. All 11 volunteers from Pi Phi had a great time and Justin Johnson and Curt Yagi, from ROCK were very excited about the turnout. We have received follow up e-mails from those whom attended that they would be willing to volunteer again in the future. To see pictures from this event, please click here. For more information about how to volunteer long term, go to rocksf.org or call Justin Johnson at ROCK HQ.
